Counsel William Oliver qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2002. William's core expertise is capital markets transactions. He advises dealers, arrangers, issuers and investors on a wide range of debt capital markets products including standalone debt issuances and issuances under EMTN and commercial paper programmes. In July 2014, William advised Parpública, the state-run management holding company of the Portuguese Republic in connection with a EUR 600,000,000 note issuance arranged by BNP Paribas and Barclays.
A significant part of William's practice is in emerging markets, and he has advised on the establishment of some of the first repackaging programmes dedicated to the financing of African originated assets. William recently advised on the establishment of a certificates of deposit programme for a major pan-African banking corporation with banking operations in 36 African countries. William has experience of the Russian financing market, having been seconded to the Moscow office of Gide from 2010 to 2012.
William has in addition strong expertise in securitisation and structured finance transactions, working alongside both issuers and arrangers on transactions on behalf of major UK and French listed and non-listed companies.
