Civil and Commercial Litigation

All lawyers in Gide's Dispute Resolution practice group are well-versed in procedural techniques and act before all types of civil and commercial courts in contractual and tortious litigation, in both civil and common law.

Our lawyers have developed significant experience in the management of major and complex civil and commercial litigation. They assist their clients throughout all stages of their disputes:

  • Pre-action claims
  • Implementation of a legal strategy, both for claimants and defendants
  • Implementation of provisional and interim measures both in France and abroad
  • Drafting of documents
  • Transactional negotiations
  • Pleadings
  • Enforcement proceedings both in France and abroad

Gide has developed considerable experience in international litigation involving simultaneous procedures in various national and international jurisdictions.

To this end, we set up dedicated teams that comprise lawyers specialising in dispute resolution drawn from Gide’s various international offices, as well as lawyers specialising in the various legal fields or industrial sectors concerned. These teams comprise both common and civil law specialists to provide clients with the best possible representation before courts throughout the world.

Experience includes:

  • Advising an investment fund prosecuted before French courts for the unfair termination of negotiations as part of the buy-out of a distressed company.
     
  • Representing, before French courts, the interests of joint inheritors as part of an international succession dispute that included procedures in European and South American countries.
     
  • Enforcement procedures in various European and West African countries regarding a French legal decision relating to a dispute between banks and manufacturers.
     
  • Representing a major French insurance group as part of mass claims brought by its clients and deriving from the embezzlement of one of its employees.
