29 novembre 2013 - Gide, conseil de la Société Générale sur la vente de sa filiale de crédit à la consommation au Vietnam
Gide has advised Société Générale on the sale of its wholly owned Vietnamese consumer finance subsidiary, Société Générale Viet Finance Co. Ltd. ("SGVF") to Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank ("HDBank"), a leading private bank in Vietnam.
The finance company was one of the first and largest foreign-invested finance companies in Vietnam, licensed in 2007.
This transaction was a landmark transaction, being the first time a credit institution was sold as a corporate entity - as opposed to acquired or merged by asset transfer - with the approval of the State Bank of Vietnam under existing regulations. It was implemented against the current trend for consolidation and restructuring of the banking sector in Vietnam and opens the way for other transactions to be structured in a similar manner.
The Gide team advising Société Générale was led by partner Samantha Campbell, and included associates Huynh Tuong Long, Pham Bach Duong, and Antoine Toussaint (Vietnam) and Edgard Nguyen (Paris).
