Gide advises Swedfund, Proparco and British International Investment (BII) on hummingbirds €50 million fundraising

Gide had advised Swedfund, Proparco and British International Investment (BII) in connection with a €50 million fundraising by hummingbirds, a French nature-based projects developer.

Swedfund, Proparco and BII have each committed €15m, while hummingbirds is contributing €5m in seed capital.

The total amount of €50m will be invested in hummingbirds Gondwana, the investment platform created by hummingbirds to deploy its Nature-based Solutions (NbS) carbon projects, across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The strategy of hummingbirds Gondwana is to invest in a broad portfolio of natural assets aimed at combating deforestation, restoring degraded ecosystems, protecting biodiversity and improving the livelihoods of local communities.

The Gide team was composed of partner Julien David, associates Eya Ennaifer and Anton Etchegoyhen on M&A aspects; partner Marie Bouvet-Guiramand, associates Olamidé Sekumadé and Auriane Maillard on project aspects; and partner Emmanuel Reille on competition aspects.
