Ever since 2002, and after having acted on all the major French infrastructure concessions in the 80s and 90s, French public authorities have tasked Gide with the design of new forms of PPP. Whether in calls for tenders or during project execution phases, Gide dedicates to each operation a multi-disciplinary team that is fully integrated with the teams of the sponsors and lenders that consult it.
Gide has represented manufacturers, investors and lenders on most PPPs developed in France, regarding roads, motorways and engineered structures, railways and airports, e-communication, public lighting and urban heating networks, stadiums and theatres, prisons, courthouses, ministry buildings, hospitals, schools, universities and military assets.
Our firm offers a comprehensive service throughout projects, from their contractual and financial structuring through to the sales and acquisitions of project companies and the refinancing of assets. Gide sets itself apart thanks to its ability to support clients throughout the construction phase and the implementation of the infrastructure’s operation, well beyond the usual transactional aspects of PPPs, in particular thanks to its lawyers practising urban planning and environment law.
Ten years after having played a part in creating the current legal framework of PPPs, Gide now contributes to developing new financing sources for major public facilities, as counsel to the sponsors of the first bond financing for a PPP in France.
