Gide welcomes three new Counsels

Gide is pleased to announce the arrival of three new Counsels in its Paris, London and Warsaw offices.

 

Matthieu Herviaux, Counsel (Paris)

Matthieu Herviaux joined Gide’s LBO Finance team in Paris on June 1st, alongside partners Eric Cartier-Millon and Nathalie Benoit.

Matthieu specializes in acquisition financing, particularly private equity and leveraged buy-outs (LBOs) transactions. He advises investment funds, banks and debt funds on the financing of LBO transactions, refinancing operations and complex financial restructuring operations, as well as LBO portfolio companies on financing for build-up acquisitions and refinancing.

Matthieu has recently acted for sponsors in LBO transactions involving the Solina (Astorg), Solabia (TA Associates), Inovie (Ardian), Circet (ICG), Esker and LumApps (Bridgepoint) groups, as well as for lenders in connection with the refinancing of Socotec group’s senior debt and the financing of CD&R’s acquisition of Opella. Before joining Gide, Matthieu spent eight years in Latham & Watkins’ Finance department in Paris.

Matthieu holds a Master II D.J.C.E. in International Business Law from Aix-Marseille University and a Diploma in Common Law from University College Cork (Ireland). He was called to the Paris Bar in 2018.

 

Sarah Gabbai, Counsel (London)

Sarah Gabbai joined Gide’s tax team on May 18 and heads the Firm’s UK tax practice in the London office. She works alongside partner Dimitrios Logizidis, Head of Banking and Structured Finance in London.

Her practice focuses on UK and international tax law, with a particular emphasis on cross-border transactions and investments. She advises on the UK tax aspects of financial transactions, securities offerings, securitizations and fund structures.

Sarah also advises multinational groups and private equity funds on the UK and international tax aspects of group restructuring operations, corporate and financing transactions, M&A and employee equity incentives, as well as financial institutions, fund managers and investors on a range of UK tax issues.

Sarah is a graduate of Cambridge University (King’s College), a qualified English solicitor, a member of the California Bar and a Fellow of the U.K. Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). She also has an LLM in Taxation from King’s College London.

 

Łukasz Jeśkiewicz, Counsel (Warsaw)

Łukasz Jeśkiewicz joined Gide’s team in Warsaw on June 1st, alongside partner Dariusz Tokarczuk.

He specializes in tax advisory services, particularly in relation to mergers and acquisitions and international tax law. Łukasz has extensive experience advising both financial and strategic investors on transactions. He also has experience in international accounting standards and in management accounting.

His expertise also includes assisting clients in complex tax audits and inspections, as well as in consultation and clearance procedures before tax authorities.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and from the Centre for British and European Legal Studies. He is also a licensed tax advisor and a member of ACCA (FCCA). He was admitted to the Warsaw Bar in 2006.
