Partner Richard Ghueldre specialises in insurance and reinsurance law in addition to transportation law. He leads a team now well recognized on the market, notably as regards insurance and major disasters (air, maritime and industrial). He has broad experience in insurance contract law (life and non-life), regulatory issues concerning corporate and insurance intermediaries (establishment, operational aspects and restructuring), as well as setting up insurance programmes and distribution schemes both in France and on an international level.
Richard has additionally developed strong expertise in settlements (pre-litigation, litigation, arbitration) and accident management. He is handling the first class action case initiated in France in the banking and insurance sector. He also acts on disciplinary proceedings before the APCR.
Richard acts as counsel for numerous traditional insurance actors as well as banking and financial operators, industrial groups and service providers, in addition to foreign law firms dealing with insurance issues. His assistance has been requested in matters of establishment, acquisition, restructuring (for insurance companies, reinsurance companies, insurance intermediaries) and portfolio transfer along with the design and analysis of insurance product and distribution schemes.
He is a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the AMRAE (Association for Management of Corporate Risks and Insurance, comprising in particular the risk managers of French CAC 40 companies), of the board of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA), and of the Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers Association (AJAR). He also teaches insurance law at the Paris I and Paris Dauphine universities as part of the Paris insurance institute, whose alumni association (ADIAP) he chairs.
For several years now, Richard Ghueldre has been listed as a leading lawyer in the Insurance and Transport sections of Chambers Europe and Legal 500 guides. In particular, Richard has been ranked since 2013 as Leading Individual in Insurance: Regulatory & Corporate by Legal 500.
