A partner at Gide’s Shanghai office, Fan Jiannian specialises in Chinese domestic and cross-border M&A. He advises multinational, public and private-sector clients on their activities in Greater China across a broad range of sectors, including automotive, appliances, manufacturing and industrial gases. In addition to being active in assisting Chinese companies with their outbound investments, he also has extensive experience in Chinese regulatory aspects of banking and finance covering credit card issuance, financial leasing, fund management, securities, and financial guarantees.
With extensive experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional M&A matters, his track record notably includes advising SEB Group on a EUR 327 million acquisition of a majority stake in Zhejiang Supor Co., Ltd., followed by a further acquisition of a 20% stake in 2011 (valued at approximately EUR 422 million) and advising Kweichow Moutai, China's leading distillery, on the acquisition of Château Loudenne (Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of Bordeaux) in 2013 in France.
Jiannian was appointed as representative of the firm when the Shanghai office joined the Shanghai Bar in 2012. He is also a member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Zhejiang Province.
