For several years now, Gide has covered all contract- and dispute-related aspects of law applicable to space, air, sea, river, road and railway transport, in civil and criminal courts alike. We are recognised as a major player in the field.
Our Transports team, which draws on 30 years’ experience, comprises lawyers recognised for their skill in handling issues related to the law of transport, law of logistics, and law applicable to any related activities. This team is today a reference for the main players in the field, be they manufacturers, transport operators, maintenance and equipment operators, or insurers.
Our fields of specialisation within transport law are the following:
Our lawyers represent and defend the interests of their clients before all French (administrative, civil and criminal) and European courts (ICC, ECJ), as well as before the various arbitration bodies. They enjoy full knowledge of transport law and general economy, and work in close cooperation with the firm’s other practice groups in order to issue opinions of counsel and the most appropriate litigation strategies.
Additionally, our Transports team has developed a recognised expertise in the field of collective accidents and the settling of this type of dispute using transactional methods (templates for receipt of payment, negotiations with victims’ associations, etc.) and/or litigation. To this end, Gide draws on its facilities and support services (corporate printing etc.) that are necessary in the management of this particular type of case.
Gide ensures a permanent legal watch and is regularly present at specialised conferences, such as those organised by the Institut du Droit International des Transports (institute for international transport law, or IDIT), the Association Française du Droit Maritime (French association for maritime law, or AFDM), the Société Française de Droit Aérien et Spatial (French association of air and space law, or SFDAS), and the Cercle des Intervenants du Transport (society of transport stakeholders, or CIT). Our lawyers also contribute to the development of transport law by regularly drafting articles in the specialised press.
