Sophie Matamoros is an associate in Gide's International Arbitration team in Paris.
She regularly advises companies, state entities, or sovereign states in pre litigation matters and international arbitration proceedings, whether institutional or ad hoc, as well as before French courts in arbitration-related disputes. She has participated in several commercial or investment arbitrations conducted under the ICC, ICSID, or UNCITRAL rules, relating notably to investment protection, infrastructure projects, construction and post-acquisition issues, in a wide range of sectors including energy and natural resources, public infrastructures, aerospace, telecommunication and banking.
Sophie is fluent in Spanish, English and French and works in these three languages. A member of the Club Español del Arbitraje, the CFA-40 and the Society of Construction Law, she is also a volunteer with the Bus de la Solidarité of the Paris Bar Association and works pro bono with the associations Droits d'urgence and Jesuit Refugee Service.
Sophie holds a Master I in International Business Law from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, a Master II in Business Law from Université Paris V Descartes, a Master in International Law and Management from HEC Paris and her LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from UCLA School of Law. She is a Franco-Ecuadorian lawyer admitted to the Paris Bar in 2019.
