On Tuesday, 16 October in London, Gide hosted the second European Disputes Seminar in collaboration with fellow European Network firms, Chiomenti, Cuatrecasas and Gleiss Lutz. This whole-day event drew together European Network lawyers and guests for a comprehensive programme of seminars, panel discussions and talks covering a wide range of litigation and arbitration issues. Topics included: key developments in the Construction and Energy sectors, the future of investment arbitration in Europe and a round-up of legal developments in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Delegates attending included in-house legal counsel from private companies in a variety of sectors (including oil & gas, mining and finance) and international organisations/state representatives. Attendees spoke enthusiastically about "next year's seminar" so this event looks set to join the calendar of annual European Network events.
By way of external speakers, we were privileged to be joined by Dr Jackie van Haersolte-van Hof, Director General of the London Court of International Arbitration, and Gordon Nardell, QC of 20 Essex Street chambers.
