Gide advises Crédit Agricole on the acquisition of a majority stake in EcoTree
Gide advised Crédit Agricole in connection with the acquisition, led by Crédit Agricole Capital Naturel, of a majority stake in EcoTree, a developer and operator of nature-based solutions.
Launched on October 1, 2026, Crédit Agricole Capital Naturel is the Crédit Agricole group’s new division dedicated to the preservation, regeneration and enhancement of natural capital. Forestry is its first area of operation, for which the division relies on EcoTree.
Founded in 2014 and based in Brest, EcoTree acquires, manages and enhances forest plots on behalf of companies and individuals. The company currently manages close to 5,000 hectares of forest and operates in France, Germany and Denmark. The transaction will enable EcoTree to accelerate its development within the Crédit Agricole group.
The Gide team was composed of partner Thomas Urlacher, counsel Arthur Lemaître and associate Thibault Emé, on Corporate/M&A aspects, and partner Paul de France and associate Clément Andrup, on tax aspects.
