Pierce O’Meara is an Associate in Gide’s Competition and International Trade team in Brussels.
Pierce has extensive experience across the gamut of competition law, including advising on European Commission merger control proceedings, CJEU antitrust litigation, compliance with the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, as well as handling state aid issues and complaints under Articles 101 and 102 TFEU.
In addition to his competition practice, Pierce maintains a strong background in international trade, particularly regarding EU anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations. He has in-depth sector knowledge of transport services - especially rail and ride-hailing - having counselled a number of prominent undertakings active across the European Union.
Pierce holds an LL.B. in Law and German from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland as well as an LL.M. in Law and Economics jointly awarded by the University of Haifa, Israel; the University of Hamburg, Germany; and Università di Roma LUMSA, Italy. Pierce is a qualified Irish Barrister having also studied at the Honourable Society of King's Inns and was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2023.
