Gide sponsors fifth annual Oxford French Law Moot
Gide Loyrette Nouel is delighted to sponsor the Oxford French Law Moot 2012, to be held on March 12. The event, now in its fifth year, brings together teams from a number of highly regarded European universities and will be held at the Institute of European and Comparative Law and St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
Since its inception in 2008, the Oxford French Law Moot (“Concours de plaidoiries en droit français”) has grown to be a national and then European event, made possible through the financial support of Gide Loyrette Nouel, the premier international law firm with roots in France.
In 2011, teams entered from the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Bristol, Kent and Warwick, University College London and King’s College London and, from Europe, University College Dublin and the Universities of Florence, Cologne and Madrid.
The participants (or mooters) argue a problem of French private law before a tribunal, to be chaired by Maître Alain Lacabarats, President of the 3rd Division of the Court of Cassation, France’s highest court. Gide will also be represented on the tribunal by Rupert Reece of the International Dispute Resolution practice group.
After the winners have been declared, the Firm will host a formal dinner for the first- and second-placed teams, along with their mentoring tutors, other faculty members and the tribunal judges.
The Oxford French Law Moot has become the highlight of the firm’s UK-based graduate recruitment drive.
