9 mai 2008 - Chambers Europe Awards 2008 : Gide Loyrette Nouel élu "French Law Firm of the Year" :
Gide Loyrette Nouel has been named "French Law Firm of the Year" at the Chambers Europe Awards for Excellence, at a ceremony in Barcelona last night, Thursday 8 May.
GLN was nominated alongside five other leading law firms (Bredin Prat; Clifford Chance LLP; Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier; Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer; and Linklaters LLP) to win the top honour. The award recognises GLN’s pre-eminence in key practice areas and notable achievements in client service, strategic growth and outstanding work.
The award follows a year of unprecedented growth for GLN, with headcount rising to over 720 lawyers worldwide, including 106 partners. Fee income rose by sixteen per cent, passing the Euro 250 million benchmark for the first time. GLN expects to open new offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the Autumn, bringing the total to 23 in 19 countries. More than half GLN's lawyers are now based outside Paris and that proportion is expected to grow. Already the firm has more lawyers in mainland China than most other international firms and it is the only international law firm to have a substantial presence in Africa, with offices in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. According to some measures, GLN now has the third largest share of key areas in European Capital Markets*.
GLN senior partner Pierre Raoul-Duval commented: "It is a pleasure to accept an award that recognises the talent and dedication of Gide's lawyers, especially against such strong competition. Being the premier law firm in France will always be important to Gide but I like to think this award reflects Gide's international success as well."
