Gide Loyrette Nouel's Project Finance group has developed highly regarded expertise in Mining, Oil and Gas projects, more specifically in emerging markets. It was awarded Best Project Finance Team by Chambers Global Awards in 2003.
The Mining, Oil & Gas Team has significant expertise in all aspects of mining, oil and gas projects: drafting and negotiation of concession agreements and production sharing agreements, assignment or acquisition of mining, oil and gas assets, contractual and financial structuring of projects (joint operating agreements, offtake agreements, project implementation agreements, loan agreements and security packages). It also has significant experience in dispute resolution.
Based in London and Paris, the Mining, Oil and Gas Team can rely on Gide's comprehensive network of 22 offices throughout the world, in particular in the Middle East (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh), North Africa (Algiers, Casablanca and Tunis) and China (Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai). The Team can therefore assist and advise clients on all continents, with particular emphasis on Africa.
In the mining, oil & gas sector, the Team has been involved in some of the most significant projects in Africa, including Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, and Nigeria.
The Firm acts on behalf of international public and private parties from various parts of the world. In particular, the Team was recently retained by the APPA (African Petroleum Producers Association) to perform a comparative review of oil and gas legislation and contracts in Africa with the aim of incorporating within a model contract the main standards, rules and practices in force in the international petroleum industry.
