Do you have an interest in international business and finance?
Currently, finance is the core practice of Gide London. It is therefore important that you wish to specialise in and excel at the law as it relates to international business and finance. Even as a trainee, we expect you to keep up to date with commercial developments and to take an interest in the sectors in which our clients are active. Market knowledge can often mean the difference between being appointed by a client or being overlooked.

In-depth experience
We have found that six month seats in our different practice areas give trainees the best training experience. Training contracts are therefore divided into four seats - with rotations in September and March - long enough for you to become fully immersed in a deal and to play an integral role in the transaction team. We now also offer our trainees the opportunity to work in our international offices as part of the training contract.

Legal & business skills training
In addition to the hands-on experience of working with your supervisor on transactions, you will take part in training, alongside associates and partners, learning about legal developments and the nuts and bolts of our core practice areas.

The Trainee Development Programme comprises a series of interactive workshops, such as negotiating, public speaking, drafting and personal effectiveness.

The firm, of course, will sponsor you through the Professional Skills Course and allow you time to attend other external courses and conferences that are useful for your long-term training and development.

Monitoring your progress
We believe in giving our trainees plenty of opportunities, both formal and informal, to discuss their progress and to help them to set development objectives. Our supervisors are chosen for their interest in developing new legal talent - you can therefore expect regular, informal feedback on how you are doing.

We will also meet with you formally every three months to review your progress and determine how the firm can support you in realising your potential.

At the end of each seat, you will have a formal appraisal and we will agree objectives for your next seat.

The difference that is Gide London
Gide Loyrette Nouel is a unique law firm - the only one to originate in France, rather than England or the United States. As such, the firm can offer an unparalleled training experience.
