Find out about life at Gide and then make up your mind
We have a limited number of places on open days which are run throughout the year. You will visit our offices and find out for yourself what it is like to be part of the Gide London team. We aim to give you an insight into life as a trainee and an associate, as well as the opportunity to ask plenty of questions.

George Williams read mathematics at Oxford University and is currently studying for his LPC at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. He starts his training contract in September 2011.
“I was invited to an open day in June 2009 - it was an excellent way to find out whether the firm was right for me. The day was very much focused on me as a potential candidate, with activities specifically aimed at helping me to learn what I wanted about the firm: whether talking with lawyers in their offices, during a casual conversation with a trainee over lunch or at a presentation by a partner. Throughout the day, I felt that everyone was interested in getting to know me as a colleague.

The most informative part of the day was when we were given the chance to interview two of the firm's associates. We had time to prepare our questions and afterwards to plan a presentation about Gide London based on the results of our interviews. Through these meetings, I felt that I really got to know some of Gide's lawyers and their personal motivations for joining the firm. It also provided me with a better understanding of the work carried out at Gide London. Being on the other side of an interview also helped me to improve my interview technique!

To wrap things up, we were invited to drinks with everyone we had met during the day. This, in particular, made me feel that the firm valued my interest as a potential candidate and that Gide's recruitment process is not one-sided.

All in all, I would recommend taking part in an open day at Gide London because it is such a good opportunity to get to know people at all levels of the firm in a professional capacity, as well as more informally, and to present yourself in a natural way, outside the usual context of an interview.”

Apply for an open day by emailing your CV and a covering letter to careers@gide.com.
