23 May 2005 - Gide Loyrette Nouel advises STMicroelectronics on the building of
a memory manufacturing facility in China.The total investment planned for the project is US$ 2 billion:
The joint venture agreement signed on 16 November 2004 between STMicroelectronics and Hynix Semiconductors, two of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers, was put into action on 28 April 2005 when the two parties laid the first stone of their memory manufacturing facility in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China.
The total investment planned for the project is US$ 2 billion. It will be especially financed with equity from both joint venture partners and a finance package from Chinese local financial institutions, which will include a loan and a long-term lease.
Selected for its advantages and its proximity to Shanghai, Wuxi City offers a highly-skilled labour pool and well-developed infrastructure. The construction of this ultramodern facility, which will manufacture DRAM and NAND flash memories, will provide both companies with excellent access to the rapidly growing Chinese market. |
