5 January 2009 - Gide Loyrette Nouel advises France on the construction of its new Beijing-based embassy and diplomatic campus:
Gide Loyrette Nouel has advised the French State on the construction of its new embassy in Beijing. The embassy will form part of a new campus that will concentrate all French diplomatic services present in Beijing in a single location. The EUR 25 million project, designed by French architect Alain Sarfati, is the result of a unique bidding procedure and meets both Chinese law and the French Procurement Code requirements. GLN assisted the French Foreign Affairs Ministry and its local real estate branch in preparing the bidding procedure - including the preparation of all relevant legal documentation - and in drafting a construction agreement compliant with both French Administrative practices and Chinese law. The first stone should be laid by France’s Ambassador to China in early 2009 following the awarding of the procurement contract to Chinese construction giant BCEG.
GLN is regarded as one of the best international law firms in China for real estate, construction and infrastructure projects, as demonstrated by its rankings in specialised press such as Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Chambers Asia. This deal further illustrates the expertise of GLN’s multicultural team and their ability to execute a variety of complex transactions within an international business environment.
The Beijing based GLN team was led by partner Guillaume Rougier-Brierre, with assistance from associates Grégoire Lemiesle and Liu Yue.
