10 July 2008 - Gide Loyrette Nouel Paris, legal counsel to La Banque Postale in its negotiations with Société Générale to form a consumer credit partnership:
Gide Loyrette Nouel has been advising La Banque Postale, the banking subsidiary of the French state-owned postal service (La Poste), in its exclusive negotiations with the Société Générale Group to form a partnership for the consumer credit market. This partnership, leading to the creation of a joint venture company specialising in consumer credit, in which La Banque Postale is to hold a majority stake, is due to be finalised by the end of the year. In November 2007, La Banque Postale was granted authorisation to extend its range of banking products to the consumer loans. At that time, it launched a bidding process to select a partner for the development of this new product range.
France is the 3rd largest consumer credit market in Europe. At the end of 2007, the value of outstanding consumer loans was 138 billion euros.
Legal counsel to La Banque Postale: Gide Loyrette Nouel A.A.R.P.I. (Jean-Emmanuel Skovron and Christine Miles).
