The Crédit Mutuel-CIC group is engaged in exclusive discussions with the Spanish Banco Popular with a view to buying their French subsidiary and its 18 French branches. Banco Popular has operated in France since 1968, when it opened 5 branches in Paris and 3 others in the Ile-de-France, as well as 10 others in the south, at Béziers, Bordeaux, Elne, Grenoble, Lyon, Mauguio, Montpellier, Nîmes, Perpignan and Villeurbanne.
It is envisaged that the two groups will conclude a cooperative agreement that will allow their clients to continue to use their two respective networks.
