8 July 2008 - Gide Loyrette Nouel London advises Newsmith’s Debt Advisory Team on their move to Unicredit:
Gide Loyrette Nouel advised TJ Lim, Glenn Barnes and Kevin Krespi, the management team of the debt advisory business of NewSmith Capital Partners, on the team’s move to UniCredit.
Gide advised the 10-strong team on the terms of their exit from NewSmith, the related sale of certain of their limited partnership interests and of their engagement with UniCredit. TJ Lim and his team have developed a robust and successful asset management and advisory platform with outstanding talent, advising banks on debt restructuring, something that the Gide London team has assisted with in the past.
Gide partners Colin Mercer and Scott Cameron advised the team on the move and related transactions, and have a long standing relationship with TJ Lim and his team, having worked on several highly structured transactions with them.
Colin Mercer, the London-based partner who led the team from Gide, said: “We were delighted to assist one of the best-known banking teams in London with this important strategic move. Given their talent and the dynamic and powerful new platform they will be joining, they should have a significant impact on future debt restructuring models. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with them.”
Scott Cameron, a London-based partner at Gide added: "The business model developed by TJ Lim and his team was ahead of its time. Their success in the current market is a vindication of their foresight. It’s always a pleasure working with people at the top of their game.” | />
