30 May 2006 - Gide Loyrette Nouel to open office in Hong Kong:
Gide Loyrette Nouel is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Hong Kong, effective immediately. The office will be managed by partner Stéphane Vernay, assisted by senior associates Rebecca Silli and Fabrice Turries who each have more than 7 years experience of practising law in China. The move into Hong Kong complements Gide’s extensive presence in China and across Asia, building on the Firm’s established offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hanoi. Gide has been present in Asia since 1993, when it was one of the first foreign law firms to be granted a licence to practise law in Beijing. Since this time, the Firm’s operations in China have expanded significantly and in 2002, the Firm opened an office in Shanghai. Today, Gide is one of the largest foreign law firms practising in China with a multinational team of over 60 fee earners, providing a full range of services and well-established network of contacts to its clients.
The Hong Kong office’s practice will initially focus on project finance, M&A, foreign direct investment, infrastructure and taxation. This office opening reflects Gide's intention to pursue its international development, both by extending its own network and by developing its co-operation with other leading law firms around the world.
Commenting on the office opening, Senior Partner Gérard Tavernier said: “We are delighted to be opening an office in Hong Kong, which marks the next step in our international expansion. Over recent decades, we have significantly developed our capabilities in Asia to become one of the largest foreign firms practising law in China. The opening of a Hong Kong office provides our international clients with an additional platform from which to do business in the region and we look forward to the opportunities ahead".
