28 October 2010 - Gide Loyrette Nouel named "one of Europe’s most innovative law firms" in the 2010 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Report:
Gide Loyrette Nouel has been ranked as one of Europe’s top 50 most innovative law firms in the Financial Times’ survey of innovation in the legal profession. The FT Innovative Lawyers report has become one of the top legal rankings in Europe. This year the report highlighted the changing face of the legal industry in light of the recession, and the requirement for innovation in legal services as clients face increasingly complex challenges.
The Firm’s Banking and Finance practice was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Financial Services category for its work alongside the French Government on the French bank rescue. The team was recognised for setting up a recapitalisation company and refinancing vehicle for the government and banks in France thereby avoiding nationalisations elsewhere in Europe.
Gide was also ‘Commended’ in the Risk & Regulation category for its work with LCH.Clearnet in building a clearing system for CDS transactions. The complex mechanisms came in response to the Group of 20’s agreement to standardise these opaque, over-the-counter swaps by 2012.
