6 January 2011 - Gide Loyrette Nouel advises the Chinese company Soluxe International on an important investment project in Africa:
Gide Loyrette Nouel (GLN) has assisted Soluxe International, a subsidiary of China Huayou Group Corporation owned by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), on its USD 150 million construction and development project of the Soluxe International Industrial Zone in the Republic of Chad, Africa.
The investment project of Soluxe International in the Republic of Chad, being the largest foreign investment project in Chad in recent years, will consist of a hotel complex located in Ndjamena, and an industrial zone located in Djarmaya comprising a gas bottle plant, a polypropylene material plant, a purified water plant, a liquid petroleum plant, office buildings, apartment buildings and other infrastructure facilities.
Headquartered in China, Soluxe International endeavors to improve the logistic services for overseas sites of CNPC and is engaged in catering and logistics, hotel and tourism, construction and engineering, commerce and trade, technical services on oilfield engineering as well as oilfield chemicals additives. GLN advised the client on the various legal and tax aspects pertaining to the investment project, and assisted the client on the drafting of the transaction documents and the necessary exchanges with the counterpart, the Chadian government.
This transaction further strengthens GLN’s commitment and ability in accompanying Chinese clients going global, thus demonstrating the firm’s ability to provide clients with a seamless, multi-jurisdictional legal service worldwide. It shows GLN’s strong competence and expertise in advising clients for transactions in Africa, where GLN, with an historical presence and an excellent knowledge of the local law and regulations, demonstrates a traditional competitive edge.
